Learning for Change
This programme is designed as one way of implementing the Swedish international development cooperation policy which emphasizes the principle of ‘help for self-help’. In this case experts from southern Africa and south east Asia are cooperating with experts from Sweden to improve the sustainability of education and social change projects. To date SWEDESD and GAP International have successfully conducted four Learning for Change workshops;
Ahmedabad, India, 2011
Howick, South Africa, 2011
Halong Bay, Vietnam, 2010
Visby, Sweden, 2009
The primary objective of the workshops is for the participants, invited from ESD-related governmental, non-governmental and private organizations, to experience the pattern-laboratory approach and method, so that they can apply them in their own circumstances.
A secondary purpose is to test and gradually improve the 'handbook' that has resulted from the earlier workshops.
